About Pachisa

A fresh decision in every deal

Pachisa is a strategy-focused card game you play on your own against two bots. All three players receive 17 cards from a standard deck. Your task is to choose five groups of three cards before the arrange timer expires.

You make the sets yourself; the game does not choose them for you. Once everyone is ready, Pachisa orders each player's sets by strength and compares them one by one. Strong choices earn points across several rounds until someone reaches 25.

How to play

From the first deal to the final point

The rules are easy to start and rewarding to master. Look for strong combinations in your hand, use the arrange phase wisely, and make every set count.

1Receive your cardsYou and both bots receive 17 cards. One extra card is placed face up. A player holding the 2♠ takes that open card; otherwise it goes to the garbage.
2Create your setsUse 15 cards to make five three-card sets before the arrange timer ends. The unused cards go to the garbage.
3See the comparisonsPachisa ranks everyone’s sets automatically, then compares the matching positions across all three players.
4Play to 25The highest set in a comparison earns a point. New rounds continue until the first player reaches at least 25 points.

The arrange phase

Your five sets shape the round

Pick five combinations of three cards from your hand. That uses 15 cards; the remaining cards are discarded. Pachisa will rank your finished sets, but deciding which cards belong together is entirely up to you.

Watch the countdown while you work. You can adjust the arrange timer in Settings from one to five minutes. When time runs out, your selected sets are locked and any unplaced cards go to the garbage.

A helpful nudge

If you are stuck, a hint can suggest a strong possible set. You can use up to two hints in a game, so save them for difficult hands.

Scoring

Win the comparison. Move toward 25.

After all three players finish arranging, the game puts each player's five sets in strength order. Your strongest set faces the bots' strongest sets, then the second sets face off, and so on through all five positions.

The best set in each comparison scores one point. A tie earns no point for that comparison. There are five comparisons in a normal round, and the scores carry into the next deal until a player reaches 25 or more.

Four of a Kind bonus

If you hold all four cards of one rank and use every one of them in your five sets, you can earn five bonus points while your score is below 20. Discarding one of those four cards loses the bonus.

Know your combinations

Set rankings, strongest to weakest

Pachisa checks each three-card set against six categories. Knowing the order helps you decide what to keep when the timer is ticking.

1. Trail
Three of one rank, such as A♠ A♥ A♦.
2. Pure Sequence
Three in order and in one suit, such as 10♥ 9♥ 8♥.
3. Impure Sequence
Three in order with different suits, such as A♠ K♥ Q♦.
4. Same Suit
Three of one suit that do not form a sequence.
5. One Pair
Two of one rank plus any third card.
6. High Card
No other combination; higher cards decide the comparison.

A-K-Q and A-2-3 are valid sequences. K-A-2 is not. When you have only a High Card set, the highest card is compared first, followed by the next highest if needed.
